Information Analyst
Job Summary:
To help our customers make healthcare, social care and other public sector data both insightful and actionable through data analysis and to ensure the insight is presented in the most appropriate way for the client.
Key Duties and Main Responsibilities
- Providing customer facing pre-sales support to other teams within Dr Foster around the area of data analysis and interpretation.
- Working with both clients and internal teams to define and agree requirements, obtain work estimates, provide quotations for the client and translate customer requirements into specifications.
- Produce routine and ad hoc queries using both the Dr Foster tools and SQL Server data warehouse as appropriate.
- Producing data based on specifications. Interpreting data to produce insight for inclusion in written reports and client presentations.
- Developing high quality reports and materials for client presentation including presenting written reports, making presentations directly to clients and demonstrating technical solutions.
- Providing post sales implementation support to clients, including resolution of any issues that arise.
- Quality assurance of work carried out by both self and other analysts and ensuring all information is dealt with in accordance with information governance standards.
- Work with new technology, both directly and indirectly, to provide robust delivery solutions.
- Contributing to the development of relevant and robust performance measures and indicators.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required (to be successful within the role):
Essential
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in a subject with a significant numerical component.
- At least one years’ experience in data analysis or research.
- Experience of using Microsoft Excel to an intermediate level.
- Excellent reporting and presentation skills for numerical information.
- High level of attention to detail.
- Good time management and organisational skills.
- Confident and professional interaction skills, both verbal and written.
Desired
- Knowledge of the NHS structure, roles, clinical processes, the key issues shaping NHS strategy and development plus its political context.
- Knowledge of health service datasets.
- Experience of directly participating in face to face interaction with external clients.
- Experience of working with customers at all levels within the NHS.
- Experience of using data tools such as Microsoft Access, SPSS and/or SAS to analyse and report on data.
- Experience of using Microsoft Excel to an advanced level.
- Ability to write queries in SQL.
- Basic knowledge of Geographic Information Systems.
- Knowledge of basic statistical techniques.
Key Internal and External Relationships
Internal: Liaison with our internal customers, especially other groups within the Information team and the Commercial team.
External: Liaison with a range of external customers.
Other relevant Information
Mainly office based in London; Some UK travel, occasional International travel possible; Potentially, short stays away from home
